The Glory of God and His love!
"Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world."(John 17:24) Our Lord Jesus uses the word "Glory" many times in the high priestly prayer. In the English Bible(KJV) we see the word "glory" or "glorify" eight times. As the Lord Jesus comes to the end of the high priestly prayer, His prayer is that we who believe would be with Him and would behold the glory that was bestowed on Him before the foundation of the world. The glory of the Lord Jesus was related to the love of the Father. This also brings to our notice the spiritual principle and reality that as we are loved by the Lord, we would be covered by His glory. This glory was what the Old Testament saints wanted to see. We see this theme of the glory of God being echoed though the scriptures. We see the physical manifestation of the glory of God in the tabernacle and also the people saw it in the face of Moses as he brought the law of God. Yet the ultimate experience of a saint is seeing the glory of God in the face of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the glory that transforms our life and it indwells in our life when we believe in the Lord Jesus. That glory comes through the Holy Spirit as we understand the love of God in Christ Jesus. Beholding the glory of Christ should be our pursuit. This can only happen when we understand the fact that the glory of God and His love is inseparable and both of this was revealed by the Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. The message is clear- without the cross, there is no glory! For further reading: 2 Tim 2:10, 2 Cor 4:4-6..
